1. Data Controller
The controller within the meaning of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is the provider named in the Imprint.

2. Overview
word. is a minimalist word-of-the-day app. It works fully offline and transmits no personal data to the provider or to any third party. No user account is required, and there is no server-side processing.
3. Data we do not collect
We do not collect, transmit or store on our own systems any:
- names, e-mail addresses or other personal identifiers
- location data
- device IDs or advertising IDs
- usage data, analytics or crash reports
- other personal information
4. Data stored locally on your device
So the app can remember your preferences, it stores the following only
locally on your device (using the device’s own storage, e.g.
SharedPreferences / UserDefaults):
- display preferences (light/dark mode, typeface, language, widget style and colour),
- the subscription status (whether a subscription is active),
- optionally a date of birth you enter, used to determine the zodiac sign and tune the word.
This data never leaves your device, is not transmitted to us and is not linked to any other data. You can remove the date of birth at any time in the app’s settings; uninstalling the app deletes all locally stored data.
5. In-app purchases & subscriptions
word. offers an optional subscription (monthly €1.99 / yearly €14.99) to unlock premium features. All payment processing is handled exclusively by:
- Apple App Store (iOS) — Apple’s Privacy Policy
- Google Play (Android) — Google’s Privacy Policy
We do not receive, process or store any payment or billing information. The respective platform operators are solely responsible for processing payment data under their own privacy policies.
6. Third-party services
The app integrates no third-party analytics, advertising networks, crash reporting services or social platforms. The only third-party interaction occurs through each platform’s native in-app purchase APIs (Apple StoreKit / Google Play Billing), as described above.
7. Legal basis
As the provider neither collects nor processes personal data, no processing within the meaning of Art. 6 GDPR arises in relation to the provider. Where processing occurs through Apple or Google during a purchase, it is necessary for the performance of a contract (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR) and is subject to the respective platform’s privacy terms.
8. Your rights
Under the GDPR you generally have the right to access (Art. 15), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18), data portability (Art. 20) and objection (Art. 21). As we hold no personal data about you, we cannot provide information specific to you. Please exercise rights regarding data processed by Apple or Google directly with the respective platform.
9. Right to lodge a complaint
You have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority, in particular in the Member State of your habitual residence, place of work or the place of the alleged infringement.
10. Children’s privacy
word. does not knowingly collect any information from children. As no data is collected server-side, the app is suitable for all ages.
11. Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes are indicated by an updated effective date at the top of this document. The current version is always available via the app and this website.
